The Greyhounds broke a halftime tie with a 25-5 run to start the second half on the way to a 104-84 victory over Central Baptist College JV Monday night at The Dog House.
The Greyhounds saw a 10-game winning streak snapped last week at Paducah, Kentucky, but got back on track against the visitors from Conway, Arkansas.
The win gives ASU Mid-South a 19-9 overall record and sets a new single-season high for wins, breaking the record of 18 wins set in 2015 and tied last season. The Greyhounds have now won 55 games in the last three seasons, the most successful three-year run in school history.
The game started with the Greyhounds taking a 27-11 lead with about 12 minutes remaining in the first half before Central Baptist hit six of their eight first-half three-pointers to tie the game 45-45 at the half.
ASU Mid-South then took control after the break with stifling defense that led to the deciding run in the half's first eight minutes, and the Mustangs got no closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
Terrandus Smith scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the first half while brother Terrikous Smith scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half. Dee Montgomery finished with 20 points and six assists and Chris Smith chipped in 12 points to go with a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Greyhounds now turn their attention to the playoffs in Saturday's NJCAA Region 2 Championship as they host the defending Region Champion North Arkansas Pioneers this Saturday, March 4. Tipoff is at 2:00pm.
