Going back to the school that yielded two standout performers this past season, the Greyhounds have signed Kamron Rose and Geordan Reed to Letters of Intent for the 2017-18 season in a ceremony at Jackson South Side High School in Jackson, Tennessee.
South Side, a perennial power in West Tennessee, finished the season one game shy of another state tournament appearance after winning the state title in 2014 under Head Coach DaMonn Fuller. Rose (6'7", 265 lbs.) led the team in scoring and rebounding with averages of 18.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while shooting an outstanding 71% from the field and 79% from the free throw line. Reed (6'3", 185 lbs.) averaged 13.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game and shot 59% from the field, 29% from the three-point line and 79% from the free throw line.
Both were named to the preseason Jackson Sun Super Senior Team before capturing 14-AA All-Conference honors, and Rose (pictured above) was named to the 7AA All-Region First Team. Reed (pictured right) was named to the 7AA All-Region Honorable Mention team and as a sophomore was named the All-West Tennessee Newcomer of the Year. They will join two former teammates in Terrandus Smith and Terrikous Smith, who played key roles on the Greyhounds' Region 2 Championship team this year and will return in 2017-18 for their sophomore seasons after also starring at South Side High School.
