The Greyhounds couldn't overcome 32.8% shooting in their first game back from the holidays, dropping an 83-69 decision to Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama.
After leading by as many as 15 in the first half, the Greyhounds hit a cold spell and trailed 43-32 at the half before making a second-half run that cut the lead to five points on two occasions. But Wallace State connected on 90.3% of their free throws for the game to keep the Greyhounds at bay and earn the victory.
Dee Montgomery led all scorers with 23 points while Terrandus Smith scored 18 and Trevor Banks finished with 12.
The Greyhounds have no time to dwell on the loss as they travel to Jasper, Alabama, to play at Bevill State Community College tomorrow at 3:00pm as they start the new year with four games in seven days.
