Leading by double figures multiple times throughout the first half, the Greyhounds saw Bethel battle back as five different players hit three-point shots to close the gap to 48-42 at halftime. After the half, ASU Mid-South began to pull away, leading by as much as 20 points until the Wildcats trimmed the lead to inside 10 points with a minute to play.
Terrandus Smith led all scorers with 22 points, Dee Montgomery hit for 14, Kamron Rose scored 13 points to go with a team-high nine rebounds, and Trevor Banks chipped in 12 points.
The Greyhounds were outrebounded 52-46 thanks to giving up 26 offensive rebounds, but helped themselves by shooting 70% from the free throw line and committing only 11 turnovers while forcing 14 from Bethel.
Next up is a rematch with Region 2 rival North Arkansas College this Saturday in Harrison. The women tipoff the action at noon followed by the men at 2:00pm.
