With an enthusiastic crowd on hand for the Greyhounds' "Sophomore Night" the home team did not disappoint as two high-powered offenses combined for 207 points and 26 three-pointers. The Greyhounds, however, took a 55-46 lead into halftime and never trailed the rest of the way, increasing the lead to as much as 21 points before settling for the 11-point victory.
The Greyhounds shot 51.9% from the field, 37.9% from the three-point line, and 82.4% from the free throw line, but West Kentucky stayed in the game by shooting better from the arc (51.7%) than from the field (50.0%). The Greyhounds also forced 20 turnovers and capitalized on 19 offensive rebounds.
Seven Greyhounds finished in double figures, led by Terrandus Smith's 22 points. Trevor Banks and Keshaun Davis both threw down multiple dunks while finishing with 14 points each, and Montee Randle and Terrikous Smith both scored 11 points. Jerrick Cole and Kamron Rose both chipped in 10 points, and Dee Montgomery scored eight to go with a team-high seven assists. The Greyhounds won the battle of the boards 44-36 as Banks and Randle both collected eight rebounds, and Randle added a team-high four steals while Rose registered a game-high three blocked shots.
ASU Mid-South, currently ranked #15 in the latest NJCAA National Poll, returns to The Dog House Monday with a 6:00 p.m. game against Central Baptist College JV before hosting North Arkansas College Saturday, March 3, at 1:00 p.m. for the NJCAA Region 2 Championship.
