Leading 42-21 at the half, the game sped up considerably in the second half as ASU Mid-South exploded for 71 points behind a dominating 59-32 rebounding advantage. The Greyhounds shot a blistering 54.8% from the field and 36% from the arc while limiting the Mustangs to 35.3% shooting and a rough 1-for-18 performance from the three-point line.
Seven Greyhounds scored in double figures led by Terrikous Smith's 17 points and Dee Mongomery's 16. But it was ASU Mid-South's big men who controlled the paint as Trevor Banks finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, K.J. Patrick scored 10 points and collected 11 boards, and Kamron Rose scored 11 points to go with nine rebounds. Montee Randle and Jerrick Cole both scored 12 points, Terrandus Smith finished with nine points and seven rebounds, and Shaheed Halk led the team with five assists to go with six points.
The Greyhounds finished the regular season with a 24-5 record and now turn their attention to the postseason where they host North Arkansas College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for the NJCAA Region 2 Championship. The winner will advance to play the winner of Region XVI in Missouri on March 10.
