Two-time All-Region forward Trevor Banks signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and basketball careers at NCAA Division I University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in a ceremony in the Reynolds Center on the ASU Mid-South campus.
The 6'7", 220-pound forward from Senatobia, Mississippi, helped the Greyhounds (29-6) to the best season in school history while averaging 12.1 points, a team-leading 6.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game and shot an outstanding 63.7% from the field, good for 7th in the nation. He was named All-Region for the second year in a row on the way to earning All-Tournament Team honors at the NJCAA National Tournament where the Greyhounds went 3-1 and Banks averaged over 16 points and nearly 8 rebounds in four games, including scoring 25 points in the final game which earned ASU Mid-South 5th Place.
Banks registered 10 points and 7 rebounds in a 109-89 win over North Arkansas College in the Region 2 Championship game before scoring 16 points -- including the winning basket with 4.7 seconds remaining -- on 8-of-10 shooting in a 68-66 District XIII Championship game victory over MCC-Penn Valley in Kansas City, Missouri. The Greyhounds then knocked off Cuyahoga College -- the #1 ranked team in the nation -- in the first round of the NJCAA National Tournament as Banks registered 18 points and 9 rebounds.
