Down 38-35 at the half, ASU Mid-South scored the first six points of the second half to take a 41-38 lead in just 56 seconds. But the SAU Tech Rockets would regain the lead minutes later before the Greyhounds took a seven-point lead with about 11 minutes remaining. SAU Tech would then go on a run and also got the lead to seven points before two Ike Moore free throws tied the game at 66-66 with 5:10 remaining in regulation.
Both teams battled even until a Jalen Lynn three-pointer broke the tie with 1:52 left to give the Greyhounds a 71-68 lead. But the Rockets came back thanks to three straight Greyhound turnovers by hitting a free throw and then a 12' jumper just outside of the paint to tie it up and send it to overtime.
In the overtime period, ASU Mid-South went up 77-72 behind an Ike Moore three-pointer and a Zach Byrd traditional three-point play, and then led 79-74 before SAU Tech started their comeback with a three-pointer to pull within 79-77. After two Moore free throws, the Rockets hit another three-pointer to close the gap to 81-80. The Greyhounds then turned it over again with 1:19 remaining and the Rockets got free and hit a floater in the paint for their first lead of the period. The Greyhounds had a shot blocked on the ensuing possession and the Rockets hit a 19-foot jumper to push the lead to 84-81 with 7.4 seconds left. Jalen Lynn's three-point attempt drew contact with no foul and missed the goal completely, and the Greyhounds shot with 0.2 seconds left was off the mark to preserve the Rockets win.
