Bio
Byrd returns after an outstanding freshman campaign that saw the West Memphis-native average 8.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 56.8% from the field on his way to earning All-Region Second Team honors. He posted high games of 20 points and 14 rebounds (3 times) while starting 23 of 29 games.
As a high school senior, Byrd helped lead West Memphis High School to a 29-4 record and the 6A State Championship game before dropping a 55-49 decision in the state tournament finals, its best season in five years.
The combo forward averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds for coach Marcus Brown, who also coached his Devil Nation travel team, on the way to All-Conference and All-State honors for the second year in a row. In addition, he was one of 30 seniors in the state of Arkansas chosen to play in the AHSCA All-Star Game held June 23 at the Farris Center located on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, and was named one of the state's top five basketball players in the 6A classification by the Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association.
